Terry O'Neill, President of the National Organization for Women To Speak about Anti-Abortion Attacks Escalating in the Streets as well as in Congress. Listen and call in.

Thursday, September 3 at 11 am,
as anti-abortion attacks escalate in the streets and Congress,

Joy of Resistance
Will interview
Terry O'Neill, President
National Organization for Women
And air a discussion among top pro-choice activist

This September the rightwing is stepping up its attacks on the right to abortion--both in the streets and in the halls of Congress. On Thursday, September 3 @ 11 am, join the Joy of Resistance as we speak with Terry O'Neill, newly elected President of the National Organization for Women, who has been leading on both fronts. We'll also air a conversation between three of the most dynamic reproductive justice/rights advocates today: Loretta Ross, founder and National Coordinator of SisterSong: A Woman of Color Reproductive Health Collective; Cristina Page, author of How the Pro-Choice Movement Saved America; and Sunsara Taylor, lecturer on Rightwing ideology & women and writer for Revolution.

O'Neill will report back from Nebraska, where on Aug 28, mainstream feminist organizations gathered at the Abortion & Contraception Clinic of Nebraska to call for protection of all clinics and to support Dr. Leroy Carhart, the latest abortion provider to be targeted by the Right--since the murder of Dr. George Tiller of Wichita, Kansas on May 31.

O'Neill will also give an update on what we can expect when Congress reconvenes on September 8th and Republicans continue their campaign to remove abortion coverage from any healthcare bill and even from private insurance plans--many of which have covered it for decades.

We'll also have the Worldwide Feminist News, including a wrap up of Women's Equality Day, the lack of outcry on the Afghan bill legitimizing rape in marriage, feminism in Iran and the common everyday misogyny that we all experience. And we will take your phone calls. The show will be hosted by Fran Luck and Maretta Short.
