97,218. That's the number of signatures on a petition I just delivered to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid urging him to stand strong against anti-choice attacks in the Senate health-care bill.
I am really proud of what we've accomplished in just a few days. (Check out our video about the campaign here.) But that was just the beginning.
We must win in the Senate to keep women from losing their private insurance coverage for abortion in the new health-care system.
jerin, we can't let up. In fact, we have to double our efforts if we're going to stop anti-choice senators from imposing the very same abortion-coverage ban that passed in the House.
The man behind the ban passed in the House, Rep. Bart Stupak, is using his victory to embolden anti-choice senators: "We are in contact with senators to make sure our language holds. The other side is playing with fire."1
You and I are fighting for something so important: protecting women from losing their private insurance coverage for abortion in the new health-care system. If Rep. Stupak wins, women lose. If we win, women win. It's that clear cut.
Thanks for your continued support!
