Emergency Dept Advocates for sexual assault & domestic violence survivors

New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell is looking for women age 21 and older interested in becoming on-call advocates in the Emergency Department. Advocates provide information and emotional support to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in the ED setting.

Volunteers must:

  * Have an in-person interview with program staff,

  * Obtain clearance through hospital volunteer and health services, and

  * Attend all training dates.

Training dates:
4/10, 4/11, 4/17, 4/18: 9am-5pm
4/14: 6-10pm

Upon completion volunteers must commit to 3 on-call shifts per month (Weekends and Holidays 8am-8pm/8pm-8am and Weekdays 6pm-8am) for at least one year. Advocates must be able to attend the Emergency Department within 30 minutes of contact when on-call, transportation reimbursement is provided.
