Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Some of you may have heard from some of us about an exciting project with which we are involved.  Now all of us who are on The New York Committee of the National Women's History Museum have joined together to let you all know about this remarkable institution and about a very special event at NYC's City Center on April 12.

Our goal is very simple--to show support and help raise funds for building the first museum ever in Washington DC to highlight women who have made a positive impact on history:  those who came before us and those who are helping to make a mark in today's world.  For the last 15 years NWHM has existed only in cyberspace--and in the hearts and minds of many like-minded women (and a few good men.)   Now, when there is the opportunity to finally become a bricks-and-mortar museum, we are reaching out to you to help fulfill the NWHM Mission Statement:

The National Women's History Museum affirms the value of knowing Women's History, illuminates the role of women in transforming society and encourages all people, women and men, to participate in democratic dialogue about our future.

Please visit www.nwhm.org, to learn more about the Museum.

On Monday evening, April 12, we hope you will join us in coming together at The City Center to show support for the National Women's History Museum.  We are proud that Good Housekeeping Magazine has invited NWHM to share in their 125th Anniversary celebration and that a portion of the evening's proceeds will benefit the Museum.

Shine On - Celebrating 125 Years of Women Making Their Mark, is emceed by Brooke Shields.  Featured in this star-studded gala are: Meryl Streep, Aretha Franklin, Kristen Bell, Fran Drescher, Candice Bergen, Jane Alexander, Marlee Matlin, Jessica Simpson and Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (the sponsor of HR1700--legislation that allows NWHM to acquire a Museum building site across from the National Mall in Washington, DC.)  The event has already been written about in USA Today and the New York Post (see the articles below.)

We are sure that you will want to be part of the exciting April 12th festivities. Tickets range in price from $750 (includes VIP cocktail reception) to $45.  For $250 you will be able to get a ticket + a one-year NWHM membership.  The attached invitation gives full information about the event and how you and your friends can buy tickets and help the National Women's History Museum.

We look forward to seeing you in April 12th,

The New York Committee of the
National Women's History Museum
