On Wednesday night I attended the Bella Abzug Leadership Institute (BALI)’s Bella and Bella Fella Awards ceremony. Jerin Alam (pictured) received The First Young Women’s Andrea Leadership Award.
Jerin is the amazing leader of NOW New York State’s Young Feminist Task Force (YFTF). In her acceptance speech Jerin spoke of the feminists that came before her. She implored veteran feminists to help the movement by mentoring one young feminist each, saying, “We can achieve a feminist world in our lifetimes if the different groups of feminists work together.”
It speaks highly of NOW that they selected such a competent person to head the YFTF, and it speaks highly of BALI that they recognized the passion, focus and grace with which Jerin galvanizes the young feminist community. Those of us on the YFTF are simply crazy about her.
