Who said no exceptions in cases of rape?

August 2010

High-Risk Insurance Pools Should Cover Abortion
For many women with severe medical conditions – like cancer or diabetes – temporary high-risk health-insurance pools are their only option for coverage. But the Obama administration recently decided to exclude abortion coverage from these pools – even if continuing a pregnancy would put a woman's health at risk!

We've collected 33,615 signatures on our petition opposing this policy.

Denying women access to birth control and abortion coverage in the lead-up to the new health-care system is just plain wrong. And yet the Obama administration's recent announcement is the first of many fights we'll have to face.

We need your urgent support today. Your donation will help us support candidates who will join us in fighting back against any other attacks on a woman's right to choose in the lead up to the new health-care system. So please donate today.

FAME: Pro-Choice Candidate Ann McLane Kuster
Our PAC is proud to endorse Ann McLane Kuster in New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District. An attorney and pro-choice activist, Ann has long been an advocate for women and families and is committed to standing up for women's freedom and privacy. In Congress, we trust Ann to join other pro-choice champions and fight for commonsense, pro-choice values. If you live in the 2nd District, vote for Ann in the primary election on September 14!

SHAME: Anti-Choice Senate Candidate Ken Buck
"I don't believe in the exceptions of rape or incest." That's the extreme view held by Ken Buck, the Tea Party-supported candidate for U.S. Senate in Colorado. Buck's recent remarks are a slap in the face to women everywhere, and a reminder of what's in store if more anti-choice candidates are elected to Congress.

It's hard to believe, but Election Day is just 63 days away.

Anti-choice radicals are already fired up across the country. Their top candidates are having no trouble expressing their extreme anti-choice views.

We've got a lot of work ahead of us. It won't be easy, but on November 2, we're going to re-elect pro-choice friends and defeat those anti-choice politicians who want to stand between women and their doctors.

This brewing fight is one reason we're happy to announce the launch of our redesigned website, which is chock-full of news and tools that will help you get the word out this fall and beyond.

Check out the elections hub for campaign updates, and read new stories from women and men sharing why they're pro-choice. Plus, don't miss my favorite section, tips for talking to your friends about choice.

As always, thanks for all you do to stand up for women.

My best,
Nancy Keenan
