Turn "Black Friday" Golden for Women who Rely on Social Security

The National Organization for Women

Defend Social Security
Do you do your holiday shopping on the day after Thanksgiving? This year, you can help NOW turn "Black Friday" golden -- with a donation to support our work to stop Congress from cutting Social Security benefits.
NOW chapters and activists around the country are calling, emailing and visiting their senators and representatives -- and it's working! More and more lawmakers are taking the pledge not to cut Social Security benefits. Please help us keep the pressure up by donating today.
Conservative elites from Wall Street to Washington are mounting a full court press to cut Social Security benefits, either directly or by raising the retirement age, in the name of balancing the federal budget deficit. But Social Security has nothing to do with the deficit -- by law, it can't borrow money to pay benefits. In fact, Social Security currently has a $2.4 trillion surplus.
Some members of Congress, in response to our campaign, are speaking out against Social Security benefit cuts. We need to have their backs and grow their ranks, but we can't do it without you. Please donate NOW and help us keep the pressure on.
Social Security keeps millions of middle-class women out of poverty. And in the current economic climate we need improvements in benefits, not cuts. With your help we can protect and strengthen Social Security.
For equality and justice,

Terry O'Neill, President
