|This week, Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Representative Barbara Lee (D-CA-9) introduced the Repealing Ineffective and Incomplete Abstinence-Only Program Funding Act. This legislation would end the failed Title V Abstinence-Only Program once and for all. The bill would strike Title V from the Social Security Act, eliminating $50 million a year in funding for dangerous abstinence-only programs. Funding will be transferred to the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) state-grant program. PREP programs are evidence-based, address both abstinence and contraception and include information on adult preparation topics like healthy relationships.|
