It's the 10th Anniversary of the Back Up Your Birth Control Campaign!

Every year, NARAL Pro-Choice New York is proud to co-sponsor Back Up Your Birth Control, a national campaign to raise awareness of and expand access to emergency contraception (EC).

Over the past decade, activists like you have advocated for greater access to EC for countless women across the country. You’ve helped raise awareness about EC in your communities - on your campuses, on your blogs, and on your morning commute. And your efforts have ensured that more women know what to do when the unexpected happens.

But there’s still work to be done.

This year, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the campaign, we’ve launched a new Back Up Your Birth Control website, updated our educational EC materials, and are giving you some exciting, new ways to spread the word about EC!

Mark your calendar for the 2011 National Day of Action on March 30 and find out how you can get involved today.

  • Order free EC materials. We will send you our popular EC educational materials featuring Rosie the Riveter for free to distribute in your community.
  • Enter the Campus Challenge. If you’re a high school or college student, come up with an original way to raise awareness about EC on your campus and you could win a cash prize of up to $500!
  • Join our social media campaign. Help spread the word about EC to your peers online by participating in the “Blog for EC” day, tweeting with us, donating your Facebook status, and sending an EC e-card to all your friends.
  • Participate in the New York City Day of Action on March 30. Join us as we hit subway stations throughout NYC to hand out condoms and EC info to passers-by. Contact David Benzaquen at dbenzaquen@prochoiceny.org to sign up and stay tuned for more details.

Visit the brand new Back Up Your Birth Control website for more information. If you have questions about the campaign, contact Aileen Gleizer at agleizer@nirhealth.org.

Let’s make this year’s Back Up Your Birth Control campaign the best of the decade and help ensure all New Yorkers know how to back up their birth control!

For choice,
The Back Up Your Birth Control team
