Ideological Agenda

The federal government is on the verge of a shutdown, and it is completely avoidable. No longer is the size and scope of budget cuts the sticking point, rather the radical right is about to shutdown government over preventative health care for women.

They got elected by saying they’d focus on jobs, but this fight has been reduced to whether Planned Parenthood can provide cancer screenings and other critical Title X investments in women’s health.

I will not throw women under the bus and cave to their extreme ideological agenda.

I’m still hopeful for a last-minute agreement, but the Republicans won’t budge. It’s the only thing preventing compromise right now – and driving us to a shutdown.

This issue is so far removed from our need to create jobs and spur growth that I went on Andrea Mitchell’s show today to tell the American people how Republicans are standing in the way of compromise and progress. I need your help to get that message out.

Click here to watch me fight against the hard right – and for women’s health.

Then, help me show the American people that Republicans are letting their extreme ideology trump compromise:

This anti-woman agenda is absolutely wrong for our country. The American people want our focus to be on jobs. I need your help to expose how far Republicans are from that mission.

Sincerely,
Kirsten Gillibrand
