No More Birth Control?!

Feminist Action Network, National Organization for Women
Keep Abortion Legal NOW Round

It's truly appalling: The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops actually believes it can force the Department of Health and Human Services to block women's access to birth control. That's right -- birth control!

You can help us stop them. A small monthly contribution of $10, $25 or even $50 will make you a member of the Feminist Action Network (FAN) and a key contributor to NOW's fight in the ongoing "war against women."

We won a major battle recently when HHS determined that, under the Affordable Care Act, all health insurers must fully cover a wide range of preventive services for women, including contraception. But now the Bishops are aggressively lobbying HHS for a "conscience" clause that would allow certain employers -- such as churches, hospitals and schools -- to deny birth control coverage to its employees.

As soon as we heard about the Catholic Bishops' gambit, NOW mobilized its activists and supporters by the thousands to fight back. NOW submitted formal comments to HHS; I personally wrote to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius; and NOW supporters have flooded HHS with messages -- all urging that birth control be included as a preventive service without any exceptions.

It's because of NOW FANs' support that we're able to spring into action at a moment's notice to respond to outrageous threats like this attack on birth control.

NOW FANs' regular gifts are monthly funding we can count on, and they help more than you will ever know, as we work to thwart the efforts of religious ideologues intent on preventing women from getting safe, affordable reproductive health care. We won't stand for it, and with your help, we'll win!

We don't have a moment to spare. Please let me hear from you right away.

For women's lives,
Terry O'Neill, President
National Organization for Women

P.S. Every dollar counts. If you are unable to make a monthly gift, please consider the most generous one-time contribution you can afford.
