TODAY: Global Tweetathon to end Violence Against Women

Happy International Women's Day, everyone. I will celebrate by attending the following event
and celebrating the passage of the inclusive Violence Against Women Act, which the National Organization for Women (NOW) proposed in 1994 and continued to work on, including making sure the right one was passed this time around. We also set up the national coalition, including the website www.4vawa.org

I hope you will also join me at the following:
On March 8th, International Women's Day, thousands of voices will come together on Twitter under the hashtag #EndVAW in a 24-hour, global Tweet-a-thon to raise awareness about gender-based violence.

Our aim is to strengthen the work of advocates at the Commission on the Status of Women, as they urge governments to fulfill commitments to eliminate violence against women and girls.

Who is participating? Individuals, media outlets, and international and local organizations whose work focuses on feminism, women's rights, LGBTQI rights, sustainable development, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Together, we will end gender-based violence!
