ONLINE ACTIVISM WORKS: MT & PA NOW File Judicial Conduct Complaint Against rape-culture Judge Baugh
Please see below a note and blog post from my sister NOW National Board member Joanne. This is another example of how online activism, paired with offline activism, can work so well - another example of why I am so excited about our virtual chapter.
Over the last 3 weeks or so, Montana NOW and PA NOW, with the assistance of the Women's Law Project and Legal Momentum, worked on a complaint that was filed today at noon MDT with the Montana Judicial Standards Commission. The complaint focuses on Judge G. Todd Baugh's mishandling, statements, and failure to follow state law in sentencing a man found guilty of raping a 14-year old Hispanic girl who later committed suicide. This is a blog posting discussing the complaint that we filed; it includes a copy of the complaint for you to see.
