Over a decade after the attacks on September 11, 2001, misconceptions about Islam and discrimination towards Muslims remain at the center of some of the most heated political debates. Responses have varied in both content and context. In his review of national security strategies, Arun Kundnani shows how domestic counterterrorism programs are skewed by simplistic narratives about the nature of the threat and relationship between religion and terrorism. Dean Obeidallah and Negin Farsad's film tackles anti-Muslim sentiment in American society head-on, as they travel across the country and use the universal appeal of comedy to break down barriers and also put on an entertaining show.
Join the Brennan Center for a candid and engaging discussion about two very different, but powerful, approaches to combating Islamophobia.
