Protest at Rape Sentencing of Court Guard - Monday, Nov. 15th
Tony Simmons Sentencing Set for Monday, Nov. 15 Be There on Sentencing Day to Shout: TAKE RAPE SERIOUSLY!
Monday, November 15th, 12:45 pm - 1:30 pm 111 Centre Street, NYC (between Leonard & White; 6, Q, N, R, J, Z to Canal St.) Thanks to so many supporters and protesters, our first rally sent a strong message that we will not stand by and let rapists get out of jail free. We need to keep speaking out against this egregious case in which Tony Simmons, a guard for the Department of Juvenile Justice who pled guilty to raping one girl and sexually assaulting two others, may get probation with no jail time.
It's more critical than ever that we are there on sentencing day to let the Judge, the D.A.'s office, the NYPD, and the community know that Rape Is a Real Crime, and we won't tolerate a criminal justice system that doesn't treat it that way. NEWS COVERAGE Channel 11 | CBS 2 | NY1
