According to a story in the Wall Street Journal, AARP is ready to accept cuts to Social Security benefits — just as budget negotiations reach a critical tipping point. Since this story ran, AARP's CEO has issued a non-denial denial; NOW was not impressed. Read more »

Please tell your House member that: 1) Funding for vital social programs that help women and their families must be protected; and 2) Such measures as the balanced-budget amendment, across-the-board spending caps, and reduction in the cost-of-living allowance will be harmful to the economy and to millions of working women and their families. Take action!
For-profit colleges and universities exist to make profits, and they do so by the simple mechanism of selling less value at a much higher cost. Examining both sides of that equation makes clear that taxpayers are supporting an educational-bankruptcy industrial complex that, in the absence of regulation, will continue to force more women and families into the debt horror of a lifetime.
