Thu, 6/9: Attend Hollaback's launch of new bystander campaign to end street harassment

Here is a recent article about Hollaback, which Ms. Magazine wrote in collaboration with The Ms. Foundation.

I am originally from Bangladesh, where my young female cousins cannot leave the house unescorted by a man because of the severity of street harassment.  I cannot imagine living in such entrapment.  Hollaback has done ground-breaking work in NY and is continuing their work throughout the world - including in Egypt!  Another reason I love Hollaback - I learned of the organization through Kate Mikuliak, a past President of the Hunter College Women's Rights Coalition, who mentored me when I became president of the student club.

Hope you can attend the event and support this great organization.

From Hollaback!
When you see a young parent struggling to get their baby stroller up the subway stairs, you help her.  When someone drops their hat, you pick it up and give it to them.  So why when we witness people being harassed do we look the other way?

It's time for change.  This Thursday, we'll announce the launch of our new bystander campaign, "I've got your back."

We invite you to join our board, our staff, our volunteers, our New York City youth leaders, Councilmember Brad Lander, DJ's Sister Kate and Miss Bliss, and the cast of "Loose Women of Low Character" to celebrate and learn more about this important new campaign and how you can get involved.

This free event takes place from 6-9 on June 9th at the William Bennett Gallery in Soho (65 Greene Street), and more details can be found on the Facebook invite, here. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=118042448281537
