Please call or meet with your senators and representative to urge swift action on reauthorization of VAWA in the 113th Congress (S. 47/H.R. 11). We need both Democrats and Republicans to get this legislation passed. We must see that VAWA programs continue providing shelter and saving lives. Take Action NOW!
As a proud partner of the One Billion Rising events on Feb. 14, NOW is urging everyone who cares about the safety and dignity of women and girls to take a stand. Hold up a sign at the "rising" on Valentine's Day, proclaiming: "I rise for VAWA" or "I rise to demand an end to sexual and domestic violence." Contact your congressional leaders and demand that they support reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. And visit the One Billion Rising website to find an event near you and share why you're rising.
